What if we…
Started living more for others instead of ourselves,
Stopped complaining and thought about the people all around the world who had absolutely nothing,
Began living for the approval of God instead of man,
Ceased talking and just listened to what others had to say,
Instead of being so entertainment and media focused, we spent more time praying and reading the Bible,
Instead of judging people by their outward appearance, we took a step back and tried seeing them as God sees them,
Instead of being content with the world’s low expectations of humanity, we rose above the cut and strove to make a real difference,
Stopped looking at every day as our own, and started looking at it as a gift from God,
Started entrusting our lives into God’s hands, instead of being worried and nervous,
Began realizing how wretched we are without Christ, and laid aside all our pride and self esteem,
Stopped moaning and groaning about our duties, but did them cheerfully and well and with a whole heart,
Never made any decision before pondering what Jesus would have done, had he been in your place.
Just food for thought.
Don’t put your faith in your faith is simply me saying that your faith is not what saves you. Jesus saves you. I have known a few people who say that too be saved you have to believe that Jesus is your Savior. Believing that Jesus is your Savior does not make him your Savior. Only seeing your true condition and running to Him, throwing your sins down and turning from them, embracing Him and what He did for you, trusting in Him to save you, not yourself, will make him your Savior.
Many people in places like India poverty and sickness enter into the hearts and minds of the people. It is a reality that they must face every day. They have nothing to live for. We have been blessed by God immensely. Incredibly. We need to use this gift. God has allowed us to be born here. Why? Maybe because that as Americans we have a lot more freedom than they do. We can do more here. We have such freedom and yet some Americans don’t use it for much other than themselves. Money is a gift from God and so is our life! Like Hannah, who gave her beloved and long awaited son to God because she knew that God had imparted life into Samuel and graciously allowed his life to enter the world. Hannah prayed for God to give her a son and when God did she gave him right back to Him and was very grateful. That is beyond me but that is the best example of gratefulness for life I can think of. I am thinking that if we Americans can bond together enough we can make an impact. For eternity. Each person who is saved is another person saved from the eternal, raging fire of hell! Just think! We can make an impact! Not on our own strength but on Him who saved us.
If you think you deserve heaven, let me shed some light on the subject. The good things you do should outweigh your bad. Right? If you said a “Sinners prayer” when you were younger, but have no idea what repentance really means, even if you really meant the prayer you said, it is going to get you nowhere. Do you think you have sinned? You should, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”. If you do think you have sinned, do you still think you are going to heaven? Probably, because you have most likely heard the good news about Jesus and His death on the cross. But I have to tell you salvation is not automatic. You have to understand your need for a Savior (one gospel message) and you have to repent. Turn from your sin. You can’t not sin, for it is in our nature. But to repent, you can’t want to sin. If you don’t understand, go to my post “one gospel message.
God answers but in his own way. When you ask God for something keep in mind that He isn’t a genie that you can rub a lamp and get anything you ask for. God answers but sometimes He says no. If you ask for something that it isn’t in His will for you to have, you won’t get it. Maybe down the road you will get it, but the answer could be no forever. We just got to accept that. Of course there is no telling what God will do, He’s not predictable. Don’t think God isn’t real because He doesn’t seem to answer. He does answer, but not with words. If you pray for a thousand dollars for missionary work and God doesn’t give it to you it isn’t His will at the time. Learn to trust God. He knows what’s best for you even if you think you do. He won’t test you beyond your strength and He won’t give you something that isn’t good for you. If you pray about something, wait and He will answer. Romans 8:28 All things work to together for good to them that love the Lord. To them who are called according to His purpose. Don’t stress out. God knows and does what is best for you.
If you are a Christian the Bible says that the world will hate you for being a Christian. There is a price of following Jesus. Following as a Christian in Jesus’ steps will bring certain persecution. If you are living up to your faith and walking in Jesus’ steps like you should you will face persecution. “To live is Christ, and to die is gain.” Philipians 1:21. Basically, if you are a Christian and die you are going to heaven, a much better place. But he wrote this at a time when people did die for their faith. (People do die all the time for their faith in countries other than America such as China, North Korea etc.) But coming soon, I think, will come a time when people will die in America for their faith. (the last times) This is (as I like to refer to it as) our training period. How sad it would be if as a Christian we gave way to temptation and denyed our Lord as Peter did in the Bible. But this is the price of following Jesus. Jesus was persecuted all the time. If we are following in His steps by preaching the gospel, we will be insulted, and maybe even publically slandered, and if we are not persecuted it can be a sign that we should be following Jesus even more. I know I am guilty of this. It is hard sharing your faith with your non-Christian friends. But it is what Jesus would do and what He instuctes us to do.
What about believing. Another of the “gospel” messages. Well believing is part of it. But some churches say just believe and you will be saved. They get this from Acts 16:25-32 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them, and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all the doors opened, and everyone’s bonds were unfastened. When the jailer awoke and saw the prison doors open, and everyone’s bonds were unfastened he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped. But Paul cried with a loud voice,”Do not harm yourself, for we are all here.” And the jailer called for lights and rushed in, and fell trembling before Paul and Silas. Then he brought them out and said,”Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said,”Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, you and your household. And they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house.
Well we seem to get from that that you have to believe in order to be saved. Right? But even the demons believe and they shudder. Jas 2:19 Belief IS important. I am only pointing out that it is not just belief. It is about the one gospel message, repenting and trusting Christ as Savior. People are so flippant and say oh I believe. If they really believed the whole gospel it would change the way you look at everything. But it doesn’t save you. Repent and Trust!
